WARNINGS AND HOPE

Now it happened, when they had heard all the words, that they looked in fear from one to another, and said to Baruch, “We will surely tell the king of all these words.” And they asked Baruch, saying, “Tell us now, how did you write all these words at his instruction?”-Jeremiah 37: 16,17

 King Zedekiah is on the throne, and it doesn't look good for the nation. He doesn't pay attention to God's warnings that came from Jeremiah the prophet. God warns the Chaladeans are coming again. Jeremiah is imprisoned for proclaiming the truth. God's verdict never wavers, and His Words are true. Faithful witnessing can be lonely, but God sustains His people.

Divine authority comes and human rebellion must be corrected by God. He corrects those He loves.  Repentance was the goal, and the sentence was doom written on the scroll. His Word was proclaimed time after time and king Jehoiakim illustrated the coming destruction to the city. Rejecting God's message was the wrong thing to do and had its consequences. Judgment follows when God's Word is despised. God's message is still the same
